Earning extra income through the Gig Economy

There is no easy path to making money. You have to work extremely hard and even engage in additional jobs that can sometimes be stressful to earn a living. However, with the gig economy becoming ever more popular, you can still keep your 9 to 5 job and still earn some extra income without sweating. You only need a good internet connection. In Nigerian parlance, it is often referred to as a side hustle. A gig economy is a free market system in which temporary positions are common and organisations contract with independent workers for short-term engagements. Since they are short-term engagements, you can easily perform the given task at your convenience. In fact, the gig economy has been scaled to a whole new level where you can simply advertise your skills, talent and what you can offer to prospective clients. If the client likes your profile, you will be contacted. In this case, you do not need to glide from one website to another in search of gigs. Today, there are thousands o...

Vanguard gathered that majority of members of the committee presented superior arguments to the dissenting governors and Federal Government representatives on why the N30, 000 must be adopted. Delay in conducting an autopsy on the body of slain Chairman of Credit Switch, Chief Ope Bademosi, who was murdered last week at his Parkview Estate residence in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State, may affect investigations into the case. It was gathered that the delay is coming on the heels of the inability of Forensic Pathologists to assist detectives investigating the case to carry out the process that will help in determining the circumstances that led to the death of the Ondo chief. Police sources disclosed that efforts by police authorities to convince the pathologists on the need to complete all the processes involved and conduct the autopsy without further delay failed as they insisted that they must obtain the consent of members of the family of the slain chief and also visit the scene of the incident with the police. Though it was not clear whether members of the family of the deceased have been contacted over the development, it was learned that detectives investigating the c...

Earlier in 2016, a labour group, Trade Union Congress, TUC, in Nigeria was also said to have made moves to acquire majority stake in the bank but the move failed. But speaking to some journalists yesterday, Somefun said this latest move would certainly scale through, adding that regulatory authorities are carried along. She stated: ‘‘This time around ...
