Choose your career and your peace of mind - Toke Makinwa advises women

While many people believe love is a selfless feeling filled with lots of sacrifices and comprises, Toke Makinwa seems to think otherwise and she has taken to social media to advise other women. The media personality who has been rather controversial on opinions relating to love and relationships ever since her much publicized divorce, has not allowed the continuous criticisms stop her from airing her views. In a recent post which she shared on her Instagram story, she advised women to choose their themselves, their career and their peace of mind over loosing themselves all in the name of love. In her words: "Ladies, choose you. Choose your career, choose your peace of mind. Love is a blessing and a beautiful thing but don't loose who you are for nobody."
Her post on Instagram This comes as no surprise considering the not-so-good details she revealed about her marriage to Maje Ayid which lasted for two years. In her book, On Becoming, which she wrote about her life and shared some intimate details about her failed marriage, she revealed that she bleached her skin and did many other things just to please her then husband. Well, her advise is valid, considering the number of people that give up on themselves in the name of love. We hope her advise is welcomed with more positivity than backlash this time around.
